Empowering Women, Transforming Communities
Mahila Shishu Kendra's Women Empowerment Programme is dedicated to creating opportunities for women from marginalized communities to become economically independent, socially aware, and confident individuals. We focus on women affected by poverty, substance abuse in families, commercial sex workers, and those from vulnerable backgrounds.
Our holistic approach addresses multiple dimensions of empowerment including economic independence, health and wellbeing, legal awareness, education, and social participation to create lasting change in women's lives.
Key Empowerment Areas
Economic Empowerment
Skill development training in tailoring, embroidery, handicrafts, food processing, and other marketable skills. We provide micro-enterprise support, market linkages, and financial literacy training to help women start and sustain their own businesses.
Education & Literacy
Adult literacy classes, basic education, computer training, and life skills education for women who missed formal schooling. We also provide educational support for their children to break intergenerational cycles of illiteracy and poverty.
Legal Awareness
Workshops on women's rights, legal provisions, domestic violence laws, property rights, and access to justice. We provide legal aid support and counseling for women facing discrimination, violence, or legal challenges.
Health & Wellbeing
Regular health checkups, reproductive health services, mental health support, nutrition counseling, and awareness programs on women's health issues. Special focus on women affected by substance abuse in their families.
Skill Development & Entrepreneurship
We run comprehensive skill development programs in tailoring, embroidery, handicraft making, food processing, beautician courses, and computer operations. Our training centers are equipped with modern equipment and experienced trainers.
After training, we support women in setting up their own micro-enterprises through seed funding assistance, business planning support, and market linkage facilitation. We also organize regular exhibitions and fairs to help them sell their products.
Skill Development Programs
Tailoring & Stitching
Professional training in garment making, alterations, and embroidery work
Handicrafts

Support Groups & Leadership Development
We facilitate women's self-help groups where women come together for savings, mutual support, and collective action. These groups serve as platforms for sharing experiences, problem-solving, and community mobilization.
Leadership training programs help women develop confidence, communication skills, and public speaking abilities to take active roles in community decision-making processes. We also organize exposure visits to successful women-led enterprises and institutions.
Our programme includes counseling and support services for women affected by domestic violence, substance abuse in families, and other traumatic experiences to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and confidence.
