At Mahila Shishu Kendra, we believe that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty and create lasting change in communities. Our Child Education Programme is specifically designed to provide quality education to underprivileged children in urban slums of Muzaffarpur.
We focus on children from economically weak families, street children, and those affected by substance abuse in their families. Our approach goes beyond traditional classroom teaching to include holistic development, life skills, and values education.
Our Education Initiatives
Bridge Schools
We operate bridge schools for children who have never been to school or have dropped out. These schools help them catch up with their age-appropriate grade level and transition to formal schooling.
After-School Support
Regular after-school tutoring and homework support for children who need additional help with their studies, ensuring they don't fall behind in formal school.
Nutrition Support
Providing nutritious meals and snacks to ensure children have the energy to focus on learning. Many children come from homes where regular meals are not guaranteed.
Scholarship Program
Financial support for bright and deserving students to continue their education in higher grades, including school fees, books, and uniforms.
Special Focus on Girls' Education
We particularly emphasize girls' education as they are often the first to be pulled out of school. Our programme includes awareness sessions with parents about the importance of educating girls and provides safe transportation for girls to attend school.
We also conduct menstrual hygiene education and provide sanitary products to ensure girls don't miss school during their periods.
